Congratulations on your decision to get married!
We believe that you will have years of wonderful life together to
look forward to. Come and spend a few hours with us to develop skills
to enrich your relationship now and for the years to come.
What is the course like?
This course is aimed at developing the skills you both bring to
your relationship. It is not a teaching course but rather is designed
to promote discussion with your partner and with other couples getting
married. We hope to highlight certain areas that everyone might
find interesting and useful to discuss. We will explore useful tools
for discussing issues - especially those we feel strongly about!
We can offer various options for this course, either a series of
three evenings or a whole day on a Saturday.
Where is the course held?
The course is held in a home with, we hope, a friendly and relaxed
atmosphere. We offer wine and nibbles during the week and soup and
rolls on the Saturday.
Who leads the course?
Your leaders are all experienced in marriage, they have been through
various life changing circumstances and lots of rows but they are
committed to their own marriages and to yours. Some of their stories
and lessons may be of help for your but hopefully they will inspire
you that marriage is worth working at.
But we live together already!
The course is very relevant to those who have lived together for
a number of years. This is an ideal opportunity to MOT your relationship.
Like cars all relationship need careful nurturing and attention
to keep them in top-top condition. Each time the leaders do the
course they make commitments to improve some aspect of their own
relationship, whether to listen better or to put out the bins without
being asked! We are sure that everyone can find something to work
at and you will bring much experience to the group which you may
wish to share.
But we don't live together yet!
For those who have not lived together don't miss this opportunity
to get things right from the beginning and be ahead of the game!
What happens after the course?
You will be given the opportunity to take your relationship further
by completing an inventory. The inventory does not give a success
or failure rating but highlights areas of agreement and disagreement.
The completed inventories will be sent away to be computer analysed.
To receive feedback on your answers you will be offered between
one and three sessions, as you choose, with a trained mentor couple
who again will not teach you but will encourage you to discuss some
of the areas highlighted by the inventory. There is no cost for
the feedback sessions.
The value of the inventory is that subsequent sessions are tailored
to your particular needs as a couple and it practises the discussions
skills developed in the main course.
How much will it cost?
The cost of the course is £30.00.
But is it any good?
Here are some quotes from our courses
'We were made to feel very welcome and relaxed'
'We were both able to contribute without feeling embarrassed'
'It was really helpful to discuss communication and financial
issues'
